Amherst Township Board of Zoning Appeals will conduct a Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 19, 2025,
at 6:00 pm, at the Amherst Township Hall located at 7530 Oberlin Road, Elyria.
The purpose of this hearing is to consider a Conditional Use for 46140 Telegraph Road, Amherst, located in Amherst Township (PP# 05-00-033-000-061).
A copy of this application is available for public inspection at the Township Hall.
The Zoning Commission of Amherst Township will hold a Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to the Amherst Township Zoning Resolution that was initiated by an application from Jacob Shield of Grey Fox Capital on behalf of the property owners.
The hearing will be held at the Amherst Township Hall, 7530 Oberlin Road, Elyria, on April 1, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. The application to amend the Zoning Resolution will be available for examination for a period of ten days from March 21, 2025 to April 1, 2025, at the Amherst Township Hall, 7530 Oberlin Road in the outside bulletin board.
Following is a list of all properties to be rezoned or redistricted by the proposed amendment and the names of owners of these properties, as they appear on the County Auditor’s current tax list:

Owned by Sliman Barbara J Trustee & Five S Incorporated.
The present zoning classification of the properties named in the proposed amendment is a combination of R-AG (Agricultural/Residential) and GB-1 (General Business). The proposed zoning classification is R-1 CON (Low Density Residential with Conservation). After conclusion of the hearing, the matter will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for further action.
Membership
The Amherst Township Zoning Commission consists of five (5) members appointed by the Township Trustees. The members serve a term of five (5) years and their terms expire individually, one per year. Members of the Zoning Commission shall be residents of the unincorporated portion of Amherst Township. The Township Trustees may also appoint up to two (2) alternate members to the Zoning Commisssion.

The Zoning Commission regularly scheduled meeting is the First Tuesday of each Month at 6:30 PM in the Township Hall. Other meetings may be scheduled as needed by the Chairman of the Commission. Meetings are open to the Pubic.
